We now know that lung cancer screening with low-dose computed tomography saves lives. We have known for more than 60 years that smoking cessation (SC) saves lives. Can we save even more lives by combining these two effective interventions? The work by Murray et al. [1], in this issue of the European Respiratory Journal, is a big stride to show that we can.
