We read with interest the paper by Migliori et al. [1], recently published in the European Respiratory Journal, giving a renewed vision and highlighting the importance of setting the framework to guide clinicians, public health experts and decision makers in taking steps in the trajectory towards tuberculosis (TB) pre-elimination and elimination. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimated that 10.6 million people developed TB in 2022, an increase compared to 10.3 million in 2021 and 10.0 million in 2020. Furthermore, TB is the leading cause of death from a single infectious agent, with almost 1.6 million deaths estimated in 2022 [2].
